The Final Days of Jesus' Ministry in Jerusalem
In this section of divine inspiration, Luke relates the events of the final days of Jesus' life. Luke focuses upon Jesus' suffering on behalf of his people (not all people - see "Definite Atonement: For Whom Did Jesus Die?" below), also stressing the glory of Christ after his resurrection, as well as the future of the Church after Christ's ascension.
The high point of Jesus' ministry was his sacrificial death on the cross (23:44-49), his triumphant resurrection (24:1-12), and ascension as Lord (24:50-53).Section · Luke 22:1–23:56
Jesus' Arrest, Trial, and Crucifixion
Though already present in seed form (Psa. 41:9; 55:12-14, 20-21; Zech. 11:12-13; John 17:12; cf. Acts 2:22-23; 4:27-28), now Judas' plot to betray Christ begins to materialize outwardly. Please see the Gospel's of Matthew and Mark below.
Luke helped his readers feel the tension of Jesus' approaching death. The long desired plans of the Jewish leaders to stop Jesus were being fulfilled. This tragically happened as one of Jesus' own disciples betrayed him. Yet, this was the fulfillment of God's plan as well.Luke 22:2
