About

Dr. Drew Hartman is a physicist and a member of the International Space Station (ISS) Space Environments team specializing in plasma physics, space weather, and spacecraft charging. He began his journey at the William B. Hanson Center for Space Sciences researching ionospheric electrodynamics in low Earth orbits, earning a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2007. Although entering his academic pursuit as a believer, he graduated humbler and with an even stronger faith resulting from how he saw God’s hand in every physical law and mathematical theorem he learned. He was later hired to investigate how the ISS becomes electrically charged and can lead to lethal shocks while astronauts perform space walks. This expanded into forecasting space weather events and exploring other space environments like the radiation belts, heliosphere, and lunar surface, which he continues to do today.
