Privacy Policy

Your trust matters to us. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Effective date: October 4, 2026

1. Introduction

Third Millennium Ministries (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Nexus platform — a free academic resource library that delivers Reformed theological training to learners worldwide. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our website, register for an account, or use any related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Third Millennium Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We do not sell personal information, and our business model does not depend on advertising. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly, information that is generated when you use the Services, and information from third-party identity providers when you choose to sign in through them.

Information you provide

  • Account details: first name, last name, email address, password, and (optionally) date of birth, country, region, and city.
  • Profile content: avatar image, language preference, and any biographical fields you choose to share.
  • Communications: messages you send to us, including support requests, prayer submissions, and feedback.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages visited, courses opened, lessons completed, and timestamps for these events.
  • Device data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 6.

Information from third parties

If you sign in using Google, Facebook, or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique identifier from that provider. We do not receive your password, and we never post on your behalf.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including delivering courses, lessons, and downloadable resources.
  • Authenticate users, enforce account security, and prevent fraudulent activity.
  • Personalize the experience, including remembering your language preference and showing your enrollment progress.
  • Send transactional communications such as email verification, password resets, and important service notices.
  • Analyze aggregate usage to understand which content is most valuable and where to invest translation effort.
  • Comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests, and protect the rights of Third Millennium Ministries, our users, and the public.

Your study progress and journal

So that you can pick up where you stopped, the website keeps a small record of your study.

What we keep

  • Your place in each lesson, video, audio lesson, podcast episode, book, magazine article, Bible passage and study session you open, and how far you got.
  • Whether you finished it, and when.
  • The stretches of a video or audio lesson you actually watched or heard, so we can total your watch time.
  • The title of each item, so we can show you where you left off.

Where it is kept

The record is saved in this browser, on your computer or phone, so your place is not lost if your connection drops. When you are signed in and “Remember my place across devices” is on (it is on by default), it is also saved to your account on our servers so that it follows you to your other devices. If you turn that off or pause it, or you are not signed in, your places stay in this browser only.

When you sign in, the places this browser kept while you were signed out become part of your record. When you sign out, your record is cleared from this browser. The only exception is a change that could not be sent yet: it waits in this browser and is sent the next time you sign in.

The Study Journal

The Study Journal is separate, and it is off until you choose it. It is a private record, built from the progress saved to your account, of the lessons you finish, the time you watch and the items you complete. Turning it on asks for your explicit consent first, and we record when you gave it. Only you can see your journal. It is never shared, never used for advertising and does not include quiz scores. The website keeps no copy of your journal in your browser.

How long we keep it

A place you have not opened for 365 days is deleted from your account. The one exception is a finished item while you keep a Study Journal, because keeping that record is what you asked for.

Your study record and the titles in it are never sent to analytics, written to our logs or put in notifications. Like most websites, our visit statistics (Section 5) count which pages are opened, but they are not linked to your account.

Your controls

In My Learning › Your data you can turn “Remember my place across devices” and the Study Journal on or off, pause saving, download your data as JSON or CSV, and delete everything. To clear one item, open the menu on its card wherever Continue appears (the home page, the course catalog and My Learning) and choose Remove from Continue, or press the cross beside it in your journal. Deleting everything removes your study progress and journal from this browser, from your account and from every device you have signed in on, and it cannot be undone.

If you are not signed in, you can clear one item the same way, or clear everything by deleting this site’s data in your browser settings.

4. How We Share Your Information

Except in compliance with legal requirements, we will never share, lease, sell, or distribute your personal information to any third party without your express permission. We share it only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: trusted vendors who process information on our behalf under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. No contractor is given permanent access to your data.
  • Legal requirements: when required to comply with applicable law, valid legal process, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of Third Millennium Ministries or others.
  • Mission partners: regional Third Millennium Ministries affiliates and translation reviewers, when necessary to deliver localized content. Partners receive only the minimum information needed for their role.
  • With your consent: when you explicitly direct us to share information with a specific recipient.

Links to Other Websites

Our Services may contain links that lead to external websites we do not operate (for example, partner organizations, social login providers, or external resources referenced in lessons). If you click on such a link, this Privacy Policy no longer governs the data you provide on the destination site. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit through one of these links.

5. Third-Party Services

The Services rely on the following third-party providers. Each operates under its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to review them:

  • Identity: Google Identity Services, Facebook Login, and Microsoft Identity Platform — used only when you choose to sign in with those providers.
  • Hosting and storage: Amazon Web Services (S3 and adjacent infrastructure), used to host the application and store learning resources.
  • Email delivery: SMTP providers used to send transactional emails such as verification and password resets.
  • AI processing: Groq and similar providers used to translate content metadata and assist with administrative tasks. Personal information is not used to train third-party models.
  • Analytics: aggregated, privacy-preserving traffic analysis. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your language preference, and protect against abuse. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Services may not function correctly without them.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law (for example, to satisfy financial, accounting, or anti-fraud requirements).

8. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided us with personal information may contact us using the information in Section 13.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Deletion: request that we delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Portability: receive a copy of your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection or restriction: object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

You can exercise most of these rights from your account profile. For everything else, contact us using the information in Section 13. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

10. Data Security

We use industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where appropriate, access controls, audit logging, and optional two-factor authentication on user accounts. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our safeguards.

11. International Users

Third Millennium Ministries is headquartered in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you consent to that transfer. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for cross-border transfers of personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we do, we will revise the “Effective date” at the top of this page. If the changes are material, we will provide additional notice (for example, by email or by an in-app notice) before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
